to find words

there are so many ways to talk of Pain.
we speak of aches, breaks and burns.
we use words like "acute" and "visceral."

doctors are the worst, they use
big words i dare not pronounce, like 
"Nociceptive?"  -  no  -  suh  - 
-  sep  -  tive  -  ...perhaps.

some have not the time for descriptions.
keeling and cowering, they use
what few words they have 
left to beg for mercy.

often, i spend too many 
on myself, and still 
i am unsure of them:
a voice crooked 
and handwriting grating.

so for Pain,
all that is left is: 
"Thank you."
